Episode Overview
In this episode of The Space In Between podcast, host Leigh Morgan welcomes Lemon Price—an incredibly popular podcaster, entrepreneur, and social media influencer from south Georgia—to explore her perspectives on Trump and the MAGA movement. Lemon shares her faith-inspired journey from supporting Obama in two elections to voting for Trump in 2016 and 2024. She reflects on her commitment to women’s empowerment and why she stands behind many (but not all) of Trump’s policies and isn’t very concerned about his tone and penchant for lying. This enlightening conversation demonstrates the power of dialogue across ideological differences, and how trust can create opportunities for understanding. Whether you Trump to be offensive (like Leigh) or you support his presidency (like Lemon) – this conversation is a critical ‘must listen’ for all.
Lemon’s Story: Politically Engaged & Passionate about Women’s Empowerment
Lemon is not only a successful entrepreneur but also the host of the top rated “Milk and Honey with Lemon Price” podcast, where she focuses on empowering women to ‘boldly pursue their God given callings’ through entrepreneurship. Lemon defies stereotypes that some liberals night hold about self-identified Christian conservatives, asserting the critical role of women leaders in all aspects of society – especially the church and in business. Lemon shares how she and other Trump supporters often feel gaslit about their political views – being told they are stupid or conspiracy theorists. Lemon’s willingness to share her journey from supporting Obama to voting for Trump in 2016 and 2024 sheds light on the nuances of her political views, and also gives insight into the reasons she and millions of others feel good about the new administration and its ability to get things done.
Empowering Women in Business & In the Church
The conversation starts with Lemon sharing about the role of faith in her life and how that influences her political beliefs. Raised in what she describes as an anti-Christian household, she describes a series of church experiences that left her feeling marginalized due to her congregation’s narrow views about the role of women in society. An entrepreneur at heart and knowing she didn’t want other women to feel marginalized, she launched her marketing, coaching, and podcast businesses to inspire other Christian-identified women to be their boldest, best selves. Her podcast has a huge following, and she has touched a nerve with other women entrepreneurs.
From Obama to Trump: A Fresh, Authentic Approach
Lemon’s support for Trump grew out of a frustration with experiences she and her husband had dealing with the military bureaucracy as well as frustration at what felt like far-left wing normalization of certain forms of DEI advocacy. A LGBT rights supporter, she shares examples of how liberals have supported DEI in ways that feel like a ‘bridge too far’ in her son’s elementary school. She also appreciates Trump’s straight-talk despite his controversial and the often caustic tenor of his comments. She give examples of what she calls the lying & doubletalk of many Democratic politicians and liberal celebrities, and contrasts this to her belief that Trump actually gets things done. She wants clear, authentic communication from elected officials, and for her – Trump does that.
When asked about criticism of Trump and his penchant for lying, and his mean-spirited rhetoric against women, people of color, immigrants, and others, Lemon acknowledges that she doesn’t like this but she’d rather trade a mean tweet for lower gas and egg prices.
Why Liberals and Conservatives Don’t Talk Enough
Leigh and Lemon discuss how unique it is for them to talk and listen to each other, and share frustration with the media which makes it hard to find non-biased perspectives. She shared a popular news story that circulated during the election that said if Harris was elected – she would send conservatives to re-education camps. Leigh expressed frustration with continued propaganda from Trump and FOX news that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. Both note the antidote to this is seeking diverse news outlets and to ask critical questions before believing outlandish conspiracy theories.
Bridging the Divide: Young People and More Dialogue
Leigh and Lemon encourage listeners to step out of echo chambers and engage genuinely with those holding different views, not with the intent to convince the other person but to get a basic understanding of other perspectives. This call to action is particularly relevant in an era where media often amplifies divisions rather than fostering dialogue. Lemon also shares an uplifting story about one of her son’s, who seeks friends based on their character and not based on race or background.
Real talk across difference matters!
The conversation between Leigh Morgan and Lemon Price models the power of dialogue in overcoming political and ideological barriers.
